"Tess writes entirely to find out what she's thinking." - Joan Didion

One Song

when you held my face in your
hands and begged me say
something say anything and I
wouldn't look in your eyes being
scared that you'd see how hollow
I am the truth is that I
didn't know how to say that everything I
do every scene I live I want
to set to the sound
-track of a song you
wrote long ago and played
many times a pretty tune lilting
and sentimental one you wrote
for no one maybe every
-one certainly not for me alone but I
love that song like it was mine fear
it so that every word I speak or
write every time we touch every
-thing I do I fear is meaningless without
that song a pretty tune lilting and
sentimental I fear it deeply I
hear it spinning in my ear as we
kiss I'd never speak again if I could
hear that song forever

How much mess could Tess confess if Tess obsessed to impress? My guests are blessed with the stress of their guess... but I digress.
